FLOOD RELIEF AND REHABILITATION >>

Introduction >>>

Is  given to victims of  natural  disasters such as floods, gales, drought, fires and tsunami etc   and also victims of Man - Made - Disaster such as Insurgencies, War, Political  Victimization, Industrial Disturbance, Terrorism etc.

Activities >>

In the Archdioceses of Colombo (Western Province made up of the Districts of Gampaha Colombo and Kalutara) up till the end of October ( ie : 31 / 10 / 2006 ) approximately 38500 persons were displaced by floods, Approximately 7562 families from 18 Parishes needed assistance. The types of assistance given through the parishes included cooked food packets, dry rations, cooking utensils, furniture, school uniforms, books and equipment washed away and damaged by flood water. Assistance to restore disrupted self help projects was also given by the end of December 2006.
