Year ceremonies at Payagala, Moratuwa,
Negombo and Mattakkuliya areas.

PLANNING MEETING -
HELD AT THE JUBILEE HALL ON 24TH
MAY 2007
For the
first time Seth Sarana Caritas Colombo had invited 35
Grama Niladaris from the Western Province who had helped
and assisted during the time of the Tsunami, and even to
date they assist mainly in house building and other
activity programmes pertaining to the Tsunami/Seth
Sarana Projects.

All
activities were conducted at Sub Office level.
We arranged:
-
5 Primary Health training courses for 113
beneficiaries;
-
5 Human Awareness Training courses for 91
beneficiaries;
-
4 Social Awareness training courses for
73 beneficiaries;
-
1 Group Leaders training course for 11
beneficiaries;
-
6 IGP training courses for 115
beneficiaries.
We
collected, in our groups, 85 loan applications: 90% of the
beneficiaries has a good business plan and is qualified to
receive a loan for a total amount of Rs. 2 millions.
Community
based group meetings are on going regularly.
Our
priorities for May:
-
Formation of Mother Societies;

Livelihood Programme archive;
-
Vocational training assessment.
Mattakkuliya Loan distribution
On the 19th
of May, at St. John’s Parish Hall in Modara, Seth
Sarana provided financial assistance to 51 people, for a
total amount of more than Rs. 1.5 million.
All Modara
community participated in this ceremony, arranged by
Livelihood Animators Mahesh de Silva and Rasika Jayamini. A
group of young people gladdened all special guests with some
beautiful traditional dances.
The ceremony
was attended by Rv. Fr. Marcus Ferdinandez, Vicar General of
Colombo Archidiocese, Rv. Fr. Father Jude Raj Fernando, Seth
Sarana Director, Rv. Br. Claude, Representative of
Mattakkuliya Parish Priest, Mr. Frank Anthony, Seth Sarana
Programme Manager, Mr. Susanta Abhayaratna, Moratuwa Sub
Office Manager and Seth Sarana Livelihood Team.
