1979   -   Housing Scheme for flood victims - Madampalla - 27 units

1980   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Kapungoda - 26 units

1981   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Maha Paiyagala - 38 units

1982   - CanoeProject in Kalutara, Moratuwa, Mutuwel - 100 Fisherman provide with canoand  Fising Gear-90% subsidy from Fisheries Ministry + 10% repayable loan from State  Banks - (Miserero of Germany provided the guarantee Fund to the Bank) Completed in 1985 Project undertaken by Rev.Fr. Malcolm Ranjith The present Bishop of  Ratnapura.

              Proposed Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Paiyagala South - 15 units

1983   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Kuda Paiyagala - 15 units

1984   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Maggona - 10 units

              Archdiocesan Scholarship Fund initiated.

1985   -   Archdiocesan development Fund programme initiated by Rev.Fr. Malcolm Ranjith The present Bishop of Ratnapura Rev.Fr. Malcolm Ranjith Co-ordinator for Social Development informs the Archbishop that he has opened the Archdiocesan Center for Human Development.

1986   -   "Archdiocesan center for Human Development" - new name "SETH SARANA"          

               (meaning - "Development Assistance") with "Co-ordinator" becoming "director".

AIM- Provide Awareness and role of pepole in safeguarding and development their initiatives for Justice, Peace, and Human Development.

Housing Scheme for FiHouseless people - Wadduwa - 16 units

1987   -    Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Kalamulla - 12 units Setting up of Seth sarana Board(Co-ordinator + 1 lay representative from the 3 regions) Relief programme to assist familiesdisplaced by Ethnic Violence 87. Programme for animation clergy and laity leaders various relief projects for marginalized group - providing assistance for Self-employment and Income generations opportunities.

Buddhidana Archdiocesan Education Scholarship Programme.

Housing Scheme for Houseless people - Waga - 18 units

Buddidana Scholarship Fund initiated

1988   -   Relief and Rehabilitation Programme for victims of Ethnic Violence

In 1988 a Projects for the resettlement of 25 families in Muturajawella was implemented.

1989   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Palangatura - 26 units

1990   -   Housing Scheme for Fisherfolk - Pallansena - 30 units

1991   -   Housing Scheme for Fire victims - pallansenna - 23 units

Change of Director - arrival of - Rev.Fr. Basil Wickremasingha  - Director - "SETH SARANA"

Housing Scheme - Uswetakiyawa, Palangaturai, Pallansena for the fisher families.

Setting up of "Archbishop's Justice, Peace and Human Development Commission" made up of 25 representatives from laity, clergy and religious from the 3 Regions - Sub Commissions for (1) Peace (2) Social study (3) Ethnic Harmony (4) Animation and Training (5) Current events and Politics. Seminars, discussions and training programmers, and implementation of small projects for income generation etc at Parish level.

Expansion of Relief and Rehabilitations of victims of ethnic violence to include victims of civil disturbances in other areas where many families had lost their bread winners.

1992   -  Southern Violence Programme - Victims have been granted relief and their families have been rehabilitated Housing Scheme for Refugees - Uswetakeiyawa - 38 units

1993   -   Rehabilitation of Disabled 278 children commended

Assistance to poor fisherman and their families

Relief assistance in the event of natural and man-made disasters.

Free Trade Zone - helping the employees in the Free Trade Zone with regard to their well-being, human rights and spiritual benefits.

Slum and shanties dwellers - our community animation visit and motivate them to improve their living conditions.

Lenten funds collected are utilized in ways to help those in need of financial assistance and self help projects.

1994   -   Inauguration of the Archbishop' s Higher Education Fund. Provided scholarship to students from poor families - for University, Medical College, Vocational and Technical Training and Career Oriented Higher Education.

Took Over the Lenten Champaign for the Dioceses. The Fund collected was used in accordance with the Deanery Co-ordinates to start Deanery Project Vocational Training Center.

1995   -   "Let us Project the Child's World" - A Programme to prevent abuse, harassment and infringement of children's rights was started.

Housing Scheme for Middle class people - Athurugiriya - 30 units

The Lenten Collection was used for Strengthening the Deanery Projects Training Center.

Visited and shared the joy and happiness of X'mas with disabled and wounded soldiers, distributed by way of dry rations, clothes etc. in hospitals and disabled homes.

1996   -    Took over the Lenten Champaign for the Dioceses - The Lenten Collection was used for building the "Sethsirigama" Housing Scheme for the Church workers.

Parish Loan Society - Is Formed thought the Parish Justice, Peace and Human Development

Committee of the Parish Postoral Council to assist the poorest of the poor to embark on self reliance being victims of money lenders.

Visited 15 Boarder village by 15 deaneries with dry rations, exercise books.

Peace Pilgrimage to Madhu Sharine with 300 Pilgrims.

1997   -    A Programme for "Empowerment" of the "Marginalized Slum and Shanty Dwellers" thought the

formation of "Thrift and Credit groups and encouraging self-help income generation Projects".

Lenten Collection was placed in a fixed deposit for the sustainability of Seth Sarana programmes.

1998   -   Lenten Collection was used to established a patients requiring serious surgical operation e.g. Heart, Kidney.

1999   -   Debt Relief Programme

To provide relief assistance to low income families chronically indebted in view of the Jubilee year

2000, from Lenten Collection of the Archdioceses.

2000   -   Debt Relief Programme

To continue the Debt Relief Programme of 1999 as a symbolic massage of reconciliation in the

Jubilee year 2000, by providing relief to the indebted from the Lenten collection of the Archdioceses.

Formed Diocesan Peace Committee - To promote peace initiatives at Parish, Deanery, Regional and Diocesan level.

Environment Programme - To promote and animate people to greater consciousness and responsibility to improve and sustain the environment.

Free Legal Aid Scheme - for Human Rights, women and child abuse etc. advising them on legal steps that could be taken against the injustices caused to them.
