CARITAS VILLAGE OPENING 26TH JULY 2007

140 HOUSES AT ORANGE HILL ESTATE RAGAMA  FOR THE TSUNAMI AFFECTED FROM THE MODERA AND MATTAKULIYA AREAS.

The Housing Settlement was inaugurated on 26 July 2007

By Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, Archbishop of Colombo

and Most Rev. Dr. Mario Zenari, Papal Nuncio in Sri Lanka. 

The Foundation Stone was blessed and laid by them on 11 June 2005

The Land was donated by the Archbishop from the The Archdiocese Tidal Wave Fund.  The Construction  of the houses including the Community Centre and Infrastructure facilities costing  Rs 165 million was funded by Caritas Scotland,  The Italian Bishops’ Conference and Caritas Internationalis.

SEDEC - CSL in collaboration  with Seth Sarana - Caritas Colombo  led the Construction and Animation Process.
